This workshop offers an interactive crash course in color theory for beginners and practicing artists alike in the idyllic setting of a landmark garden in Northern California. Hands-on exercises in paint mixing and collage uncover the basic properties of color, the bizarre nature of color relativity, and the science behind color perception. While mostly focusing on art exercises, an in-depth slideshow is presented with examples from the early mid-century color theorists Johannes Itten and Josef Albers, combined with images from folk art, textiles and contemporary Bay Area artists.
