This workshop was created for artists, craftspeople, designers or general color enthusiasts looking to expand the color themes and motifs in their work. Structured over the course of a few months, through a sequence of small-scale studies guided by prompts, we discover how to build nuanced palettes while playing around with color theory concepts at the same time. With ample space in between the November and December meetings, time is set aside to develop independent projects and the final class will be devoted to sharing our work.

Participants can choose to work in direct painting or collage with hand-painted papers, resulting in a series of small color studies that can be translated into any other medium afterward - painting, textiles, ceramics, digital media, etc.

A few discounted spaces are reserved for public school teachers, LGBTQ artists and BIPOC artists. Please email me at lena@lenawolff.com for info. Alternatively, the class fee can be broken into 2 payments. Email for this option as well.

A note on MATERIALS: students provide their own materials. For people who already have a painting practice and a set of their own materials, little needs to be purchased but it is important to have a set of small surfaces (canvases or paper) to work on. For those without a painting practice, I recommend working in small hand-painted collages and the basic materials list for that will be emailed after signing up.

Workshops cannot be cancelled but can be rescheduled for credit.
